Whether your cave diving, boating, canoeing, kayaking, or just floating on an inner-tube on one of the many rivers,you'll find picnickers,and family fun. There are nearby towns with many treats such as the Blueberry or Strawberry Festivals, and Don't miss the Olustee Battlefield and Museum, about 13 miles east of Lake City. This was the site of a Civil War battle in which Confederate forces turned back Union troops marching on Tallahassee. Each February, the battlefield comes alive during a reenactment of this historic event. In addition, the site has a museum and an interpretive trail along battle lines that are open year round. There are also many other state parks in this area of the state. It's hard to be bored in an area where you can live with your plane and fly just about any day out of the year. Many travel to the nearby Dog Island, a secluded beautiful Island with white long sandy beaches, exclusive only to boaters and pilots. You will find entertainment at the famous Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, nightlife such as live bands or Karaoke. Elvis impersonators have flocked for their annual Elvis Event. Out of town traveling by car is convenient on Interstate 75 North or South and Interstate 10 for going east and west through the county.
